John Lee Hooker Jr. to headline Jazz and Blues Fest

BEAUMONT — It is going to be a red hot summer with an evening of cool blues and jazz music.

The City of Beaumont and Kinsel Lincoln have announced the 10th Annual Jazz and Blues Fest, which will be held at 3 p.m., Saturday, July 18 inside the historic Jefferson Theatre in downtown Beaumont. The show is open to all ages and tickets are available at all Ticketmaster locations, including the Beaumont Civic Center box office, HEB Plus on Dowlen Road, online at www.ticketmaster.com or charge by phone at 800-745-3000.
Headlining this year’s festival is living legend, John Lee Hooker Jr. The Grammy-nominated artist is the son of the late-legendary blues master, John Lee Hooker. According to AllMusicGuide.com, the younger Hooker is capable of reproducing his father’s rough Delta blues style, but tends to gravitate to a smoother, more urban approach. His last studio release was “All Hooked Up” in 2012.
The event will feature two stages, one inside and one outside, for a full afternoon and evening of music beginning at 3 p.m. Other acts scheduled to perform include Dean James featuring Kyle Turner, Stone Cold, Paul Childers and the Black Tie Affair, Jimmy Simmons Band, The Beans, Barbara Lynn, The Flava Band, and Danika and Jeb.
