LUMBERTON – The Lumberton Raiders were stingy on defense Friday night as they shut down the Bridge City Cardinals 29-0 in District 11-4A Division I action at Raider Stadium.

Clay Jenkins put the Raiders (5-2, 2-1) up early in the first quarter 7-0 when he scored on a 12-yard touchdown run.

The Raiders went up 14-0 with an 85-yard fumble return for a score.

The Cardinals blocked a Lumberton field goal attempt but were brought down for a safety on the play as they trailed 16-0 at halftime.

The Raiders got on the board with about eight minutes left in the third quarter when back David Barthol got loose for a 22-yard rushing touchdown.

Jenkins added another touchdown run, a five-yarder, early in the fourth quarter.

The Cardinals (1-6, 0-3) will venture to Livingston next week to face the Lions while the Raiders visit Splendora to take on the Wildcats.
