Shaw, Helm snag BC CC victories

VIDOR – Bridge City’s Caden Shaw captured the Boys Division and Orangefield’s Maddison Helm won the Girls Division Saturday in the Class 4A-and-Under Division of the Bridge City Cardinal Classic Cross Country Meet held at Claiborne Park Saturday.

Shaw covered the 5,000-meter course in 18 minutes, 14.68 seconds to claim the title.

Helm won her race over the two-mile terrain in 13:01.61.

The Silsbee boys won the boys team title with Liberty second and Barbers Hill third while Lumberton won the girls team followed closely by Bridge City and Orangefield.

Shaw paced the Cardinal boys and was followed by teammates Kyler Young (10th, 20:34.49), Kade Garlaska (13th, 20:47.61) and Alex Nieto (24th, 21:42.12).

Payton Wrinkle paced the Orangefield boys, finishing second with a 18:26.73. He was followed by teammates Dylan Wells (20th, 21:19.68), Bryce Moore (44th, 23:36.71), Leyton Loft (45th, 23:46.68) and Brayden Babin (60th, 27:24.15.)

Adrian Crochet-Hernandez led WO-S, fginishing eighth with a time of 20:13.47. He was followed by teammates Aidan Crochet-Hernandez (22nd, 21:36.08), Kaleb Istre (28th, 22:25.67), Myron Griffin (30th, 22:33.67), Bryan Keller (38th, 23:21.39), Uriel Galvan (50th, 25:03.90) and Angel Ortiz (63rd, 28:21.20).

Jonathan Butler led LC-M, finishing 36th with a time of 23:09.46. He was followed by teammates Chase Fisher (37th, 23:19.80) and Ryan Foreman (52nd, 25:19.23.)

Kaylen Smith paced the Lady Cardinals, finishing a solid second with a clocking of 13:28.34. She was followed by teammates Kaelyn Guillory (11th, 15:06.45), Brooklin Sheffield (12th, 15:08.29), Ashlyn Dunigan (13th, 15:10.71) and Iris Lobatos (20th, 16:08.36).

Behind Helm for the Lady Bobcats included Cadence Harrelson (fourth, 13:51.08), Draven Crochet (17th, 16:03.79), Gracie Castro (22nd, 16:45.76) and Kira Merendino (25th, 17:01.40).

Robyn Courmier led LC-M, finishing 14th with a time of 15:13.93. She was followed by teammates Miranda Keltz (36th, 19:09.39) and Brice Martin (38th, 19:24.68).

In the 5A-6A Boys Division Barbers Hill won the team title while Nederland’s Blake Mortera won the race in 17:24.08.

On the girls side Barbers Hill won the team title and Barbers Hill’s Kelsea Risinger took the race in 13:37.18.
