Horace Hiawatha Walker, also known as Horace Hiawatha Walker II, of Orange, was indicted by the Jefferson County Grand Jury on Wednesday for an incident which occurred in February.

A Port Arthur police officer responded to a report of a suspicious male, possibly intoxicated, was knocking on doors at the 3600 block of Normandy Ave. in Port Arthur at approximately 12:30 a.m. Monday, February 11, 2019. 

When two officers arrived on the scene, they located a man who appeared to be intoxicated as he was standing against the rail of the staircase attempting to hold himself up with his pants falling down around his ankles, according to an affidavit for the arrest warrant.

A female was also attempting to hold him up by one arm. 

As the officer moved closer to place him under arrest for public intoxication, Walker removed a clear plastic baggy from his right front pockets with what the officer described as narcotics. A field test resulted in a positive test result for MDMA, also known as ecstasy. 

He was then arrested for possession of a controlled substance greater, a third-degree felony.

An indictment is not be considered as evidence of guilt and that all persons charged with a crime are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
