Mary Ekene had a desire to lose weight in a healthy manner.

“I started Livol because I myself was overweight,” Ekene said. “Wanting a natural approach to weight loss motivated me.”

In the past year, she has had success in losing 40 pounds and expanding her line of healthy alternatives for others.

When the store opened in April 2018, there was one product, Livol Liver Cleanse.

Now there are 31 different products including lip-gloss, bath bombs, and Black Soap.

“The Black Soup is imported from Ghana,” Ekene said.

All the products are all natural.

Also located inside the store at 1011 10th Street, Suite 201-B in Orange, is I AM Me African Jewelry.

With earrings, bracelets, and necklaces to help one feel even better about themselves as they too travel on the journey to a healthier lifestyle.

“I now also offer African clothing,” Ekene said.

She is also expecting a shipment of wrap skirts from Africa.

“All the products are created to promote even more weight loss.

From one flavor of Livol Liver Cleanse a year ago, she now offers 10 flavors to help the process in detoxing and cleansing the body to flush toxins to aid in weight loss.

Ekene is looking forward to expanding the business.

“I don’t want to change locations,” Ekene said. “I would like to open stores in different cities.”

While running a business can be difficult, Ekene has found joy.

“I love sharing success with others, both men and women,” Ekene said. “Many think the products are just for women, but they are for men as well.”

Livol Herbal & Cleansing store is open from 11:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Mon. – Sat. and closed on Sunday.
