Burke, Bears shine in Jasper tourney

RAYBURN — Little Cypress-Mauriceville sophomore Jack Burke captured the Jasper Golf Tournament by 10 strokes Monday in Rayburn Country as he sparked the Bear golf team to a second-place finish overall in the tournament.

Burke fired a sizzling 71 to easily net first place.

Hardin-Jefferson’s Brody Jeanes was a distant second after shooting a 81.

Hardin-Jefferson did walk away with the team title, nipping the Bears by just two strokes.

Mason Sterling had an 84 for the Bears followed by teammates Jack Tindel (88), Wyatt Wozniak (92) and Tim Weaver (123) as LC-M finished with a team score of 335.

The Hawks shot a 333. Behind Jeanes for the Hawks were Wood (82), Hansen (83), Lietzke (87) and Harmon (92).

The Vidor Pirates fired a team score of 363 to claim third-place There were led by Holden (84), Jones (87), Teems (92) and Kordie (100).

Orangefield finished with a team score of 377. The Bobcats were sparked by Christman (92), Risinger (93), Love (93), Pickard (99) and Braxton (101).

The Bridge City Cardinals fired a 477. Abate led the Cardinals with a 96 followed by teammates Murdock (119), Hart (142) and Geuder (150).
