Newton County Sheriff’s Report 06/25/2018

Hope everyone had a good week. We got some rain and we sure needed it. Let’s see what’s going on.

Coach Johnston and I are putting on a Golf Tournament at Wildwood Golf Course Saturday, June 30. Would like to invite all golfers to come beat a golf ball around with us. It’s to help the Newton Athletic Booster Club. Ya’ll come. For more information give us a call.

Had a big knock down and drag out near the Old Salem community Sunday. Girlfriend trying to leave boyfriend. Boyfriend said not you don’t. Neighbors and friends get involved. Boyfriend shot gun a time or two and then got whipped. We are still looking into this.

A man called to report several of his neighbor’s hogs were out. We contacted the neighbor and he said “don’t worry they come home by themselves”.

Approximately 1:00 am we received a report of a house fire on FM 2460. First report was that there were 6 or 7 people in the house. In the middle of fighting the fire, we were notified the people were out of town. Thank God.

We recovered a stolen ATV in the Deweyville area. It was reported stolen from Orange County Deputy Kite got a tip and recovered it. Good job Chris!

Gotta go. Thought for the week: The early bird might get the worm, but the second mouse gets the cheese. Ya’ll have a good week and if we can help, just holler. God Bless.
