PRESS RELEASE — At approximately 10:00a.m., the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) was notified of a possible train derailment near Highway 87 in Port Arthur, Texas.  Troopers and Union Pacific Railroad officials responded to the incident.

At this time, representatives with Union Pacific Railroad are handling this incident and DPS is assisting with traffic control in the area.

Motorists are urged to use caution while traveling in the area.  There is no time estimation as to when the derailed freight car will be removed from the train tracks.
