Special to The Leader

World Renew Volunteers will be working from September 12 to 23, 2016 to do Long Term Recovery Assessments with Orange, Newton and Jasper County residents affected by The Great Flood of March, 2016. Who is World Renew? World Renew Disaster Response Services, from Grand Rapids, Michigan, has responded to disasters in the U.S. for more than 40 years, and has volunteered to assist with case management here. What will World Renew do in Orange, Newton and Jasper Counties? World Renew has trained volunteers who will conduct community assessments of unmet needs in the flood damaged areas of Orange, Newton and Jasper counties. They will be contacting families who have registered with FEMA. You do not have to be registered with FEMA to use this service. For those who still have unmet needs, World Renew will conduct in-depth interviews at walk-in centers in each county. Assessments will be turned over to the South East Texas Disaster Recovery Group (SETDRG) to review and prioritize.
