Head-on collision leaves one man with serious injuries

UPDATE: After a fatal crash that killed 77-year-old Jerry Neal Campbell, additional charges were filed against the driver, Michael Lynn Davis of Kountze.
After the crash, Orange County Troopers inventoried Davis’ vehicle and discovered methamphetamine inside the vehicle.
In addition to the failure to stop and render aid charge, Troopers charged Michael Davis with possession of a controlled substance.
This is an ongoing crash investigation and there are no further details to be released at this time.

 

PRESS RELEASE — At approximately 11:30am, the Texas Department of Public Safety received a report of a head-on collision on FM 1131 at 10-Mile Creek in Orange County.
A 2006 Chevrolet passenger vehicle was traveling westbound on FM 1131.  A 1988 Buick passenger vehicle was traveling eastbound on FM 1131.  The driver of the Chevrolet was traveling at an unsafe speed on the wet roadway and lost control of the vehicle.  The vehicle veered into the eastbound traffic lane striking the Buick head-on.
The driver of the Chevrolet, 24-year-old Kylie Calhoun of Buna, was transported to St. Elizabeth hospital with non-life threatening injuries.  The driver of the Buick, 60-year-old Archie Thrasher Jr. of Vidor, was extricated from his vehicle and transported to St. Elizabeth hospital with serious injuries.  Thrasher is currently listed in stable condition with several broken bones.
Calhoun was issued a traffic citation for unsafe speed.
