AUSTIN, Texas—During African American History Month February 1–29, the Texas Historical Commission (THC) is hosting an Instagram photo contest showcasing photos of any site featured in its African American heritage travel guide or the African Americans in Texas mobile tour.
To participate, follow @TxHistComm on Instagram. Take a photo at one of the historic sites listed on the THC’s website www.africanamericansintexas.com or the African Americans in Texas mobile tour. Post the photo to Instagram through February 29 from a public account. Identify the site in the caption or geotag, and include the hashtag #AfricanAmericansInTexas in the caption or comment.
Participants who submit a photo will be entered into a drawing to receive a prize package including free admission for two for one year to the THC’s state historic sites. Additional items will be donated from Austin organizations and businesses featured in the African American heritage travel guide and mobile tour.

Multiple submissions are allowed, but names will only be entered once into the drawing. Submissions must be received by midnight February 29. The drawing will take place March 1, and the winner will be contacted via Instagram. Complete contest details and links to the guide and mobile tour are available at www.africanamericansintexas.com.
