Press Release — The Lake Charles Police Department was called this morning to investigate a traffic crash on North Highway 171 at Conoco Street.

The resulting investigation revealed that a dump truck traveling south on Highway 171 was stopped at the red signal at that highway’s intersection with Conoco Street. The driver of a second vehicle, a 1996 Lincoln Towncar, also traveling south on Highway 171 collided with the rear of the dump truck.

The driver of the dump truck was transported to St. Patrick’s Hospital and released. The driver of the Lincoln was transported to Lake Charles Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Deceased:           Arthur Gustav Hendrix, white/male, Date of birth: o1-30-1959, of Trenton Florida.
