ORANGEFIELD — The Ed Peveto Scholarship Fundraiser is planned this month in Orangefield.

The 32nd annual Ed Peveto Crawfish Boil benefits Orangefield student athletes and begind at 1 p.m. May 25 at the Jewell Cormier Community Center on Highway 1442 in Orangefield.

The scholarship fundraiser is named in memory of Peveto, a long time athletic director and head football/track coach for the Orangefield Bobcats.

Two scholarships are given annually to a female and male student athlete at Orangefield High.

Scholarship recipients are chosen based on academics, character, attitude, integrity, hard work and effort.

Last year, the fundraiser generated more than $59,000.

The goal has always been to have a full scholarship endowed in Coach Peveto’s name, who coached and taught and left an indelible mark on the Orangefield community and student-athletes he mentored.

Donations are accepted for the scholarship fund. Planned fun and activities include a children’s auction, Cajun auction and a live auction.

In addition to crawfish, attendees are served potatoes, corn, mushrooms and sausage.

A moonwalk will be available for the kids to enjoy.

The community is welcome to join the fun and help make this year’s event a success.
