Department of Public Safety releases name of pedestrian killed on I-10; updates investigation

The Texas Department of Public Safety has released the name of a man who was killed when he was struck by a car on the highway last week in Orange County

The pedestrian is identified as Larry Baxter Jones II, 53, of Louisiana.

No charges will be filed in the case.

The fatal crash happened at approximately 10:55 p.m. April 25 on Interstate 10 near the 874-mile marker.

The preliminary crash investigation indicates a 2017 Toyota Camry was traveling east and struck a pedestrian, who had entered the roadway, according to information from DPS

The driver of the Toyota, identified as 30-year-old Cameron Williams of Harlingen, was not injured.

Jones was pronounced deceased on the scene by a justice of the peace.
