VIDOR — A gofundme account is set up to help a Vidor family with four children that lost everything in a house fire last week.

Deanna Teuscher is organizing the fundraiser, according to the account “Family of 6 total loss in house fire.”

The fundraiser

Homeowner Jessica Samuels was napping with her 3-year-old son when her husband burst into the house, alerting them of the fire.

Chaos ensued, according to the summary on the fundraising page, as the family made sure all four children — ages 12, 8, 4 and 3 — were accounted for.

“With the help of the Vidor girl’s softball team, we were able to safely evacuate our children from the property and shield them as much as possible as their childhood home burst into flames,” she said.

“The firefighters and police worked hard to contain the fire, risking their lives and we will be forever thankful to all the brave individuals that came to our aid. The Vidor community has been absolutely outstanding during this whole ordeal.”

While the family was unscathed, they lost everything in the fire.

The family was in the middle of remodeling and has another home to move into but they no longer have time to work around finances.

“All we care about is being able to have our children somewhere they can call home again. With the support of our outstanding community, I know we can make this happen,” the gofundme post stated.

The fire

Orange County Emergency Services District No. 1 was called at approximately 3:45 p.m. Wednesday to the fire in the 200 block of Cameo, where a single-story residential structure had heavy smoke and flames showing.

Fire crews used two hand lines to extinguish the fire, Chief Robert L. Smith said in a news release.

The structure suffered major damage and was a complete loss.

No injuries were reported.

Pinehurst Fire Rescue, and Orange County ESD 2 and 4 assisted Orange County ESC No. 1.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, he said.
