Election filing underway for cities and school boards; see dates and what’s up for grabs

Filing for a spot on the May 6 general election began this week and end Feb. 16.

There are a number of entities including city, school board, port and commissions that will hold an election this cycle.

Early voting for the upcoming election is from April 22 to April 30.

Orange City Council has two seats up for election, Council Member Place 1 (single-member District 1) and mayor (at-large).

Terms are for three years.

West Orange-Cove Consolidated Independent School District has two seats up for election held by Roderick Robertson and LaTricia Stroud.

Filing ends at 4:30 p.m. Feb. 16.

To pick up a candidate packet/application go to West Orange Cove-CISD Administration Building/Education Service Center at 902 W. Park Ave. Orange, TX 77630.

City of West Orange has three seats up for election this May. The seats are held by Michael Shugart Sr., Lanie Brown and Jay Odom.

Little Cypress-Mauriceville Consolidated Independent School District has one seat up for election, the Place 4 seat held by Tammy Roundtree.

Applications will be available through Feb. 16 at the LC-MCISD Administration Building located at 6586 FM 1130, Orange, TX 77632.

All applications filed are public records and open to inspection upon request. Completed applications may be submitted in-person at the LCMCISD Administration Building or through mail at LCMCISD, Attention Jana Green, 6586 FM 1130, Orange, TX 77632, by email, jgreen@lcmcisd.org, or fax to 409-883-3509.

The City of Bridge City has four seats up for election this year. They are for the positions of Mayor and Council Members for Place 2, Place 4 and Place 6.

The election of the council members shall be elected by the city at large and by Place.

The Mayor shall be elected by the city at large.

Filing is from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, through Feb. 16.

The physical address for filing an application is 260 Rachel St., Bridge City, and applications may be mailed to Orange County Elections Administration, 123 S. 6th St., Orange, Tx, 77630.

Bridge City Independent School District has two seats up for election. They are currently held by Place 1 Trustee Paul Zoch and Place 2 Trustee Judy Cole.

The City of Vidor has three seats up for election, those of Wards 2, 3 and 5, currently held by Nicole Gowan, Michael Thompson and Gary Herrera respectively.

Terms are for two years.

Filing will be from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Feb. 16 at Vidor City Hall, 1395 N. Main, Vidor.

Vidor Independent School District has two seats up for election. They are Position 1 currently held by Gina VanDevender and Position 2 currently held by Carrie Vincent.

Orange County Drainage District has two expiring seats, those of Precinct 2 held by Larry E. Ancelot Jr., and Precinct 3 held by James Scales.
