Orange County Emergency Services District No. 1 busy with fires, emergency calls

VIDOR — The past week has been a busy one for Orange County Emergency Services District No. 1 as personnel worked fires, medical calls and four unattended trash fires.
Here’s a look at some of the recent events:
• At approximately 1:20 p.m. Jan. 9, Orange County ESD No. 1 was called to service for smoke coming from a roof in the 100 block of Henry Street. The singlewide manufactured home had light smoke but no flames showing, according to information from Fire Chief Robert L. Smith.
Fire crews used a thermal imaging camera to locate a small fire in the crawlspace of the home.
Firefighters removed the ceiling drywall, located the small fire and extinguished it.
The home suffered minor damage and no injuries were reported.
Orange County ESD No. 1 was assisted by Orange County ESD No. 4.
Smith said the cause of the fire appears to be electrical in nature.
• Orange County ESD No. 1 was called Saturday morning for a fire in a storage complex.
Fire crews arrived on scene at the corners of West Courtland and Ivy Lane to find a single storage unit with heavy fire showing, according to Smith.
Firefighters used a single hose line to quickly extinguish the fire and begin overhaul operations.
Additional storage units on each side of the impacted unit were opened to check for fire extension.
The contents of the original unit were a total loss. There were no injuries associated with the fire. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
• On Sunday morning Orange County ESD NO 1 was requested for service due to a structure fire. Fire crews arrived on the scene in the 13000 block of South Mansfield Ferry Road to find smoke and flames showing from the right side of the home.
Crews used a single handline to quickly extinguish the fire on the side of the structure. Crews then cut a hole to enter the attic area, where an additional fire was located and extinguished the second fire.
There were no injuries associated with the fire and the cause of the fire is listed as electrical in nature.
