VIDOR — The family of an Orange County man tragically killed just before Christmas have started a fundraiser to help with the unexpected expenses that follow the loss.

Those who search “Nathan Reid” at gofundme.com can learn more about the effort that was launched by his mother, Michelle, Christmas Day with a goal to raise $10,000.

“On Friday December 22, 2023 my son Nathan Reid was tragically taken from us. Nathan was not only a son, grandson, nephew, cousin, he was a husband to his wife Sarah and an amazing father to his children which were his life. Everything he did he did for his children and his family,” a description reads.

Family describe Reid as his family’s “breadwinner” and “strength.”

“His children are still very young and will have to live their lives without their father, but thank goodness they have a strong family support and great mothers,” Michelle said. “Both mothers can only do so much to ensure the stability to secure their futures. Nathan has three biological children and four stepchildren that he considers his own.”

The fundraiser will help pay for his services and benefit his children.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, Reid was driving to work Friday morning when he lost control of his truck on 4 Oaks Ranch Road in Orange County.

Authorities said the vehicle exited the roadway, struck an embankment and came to rest in submerged in the Neches River.

The 32-year-old Vidor man was pronounced deceased on the scene.
