Lightning and pockets of excessive rainfall will be the primary impacts, especially considering all the travel that will occur across the region.

“The good news is that this rainfall is needed to improve the drought,” meteorologist Doug Cramer said. “There also does not appear to be a risk for severe weather.”

There is now a slight risk for excessive rainfall over areas of Southeast Texas and portions of Louisiana.

Rainfall amounts are likely to range from 1 to 4 inches. Rain is expected to develop Friday afternoon and evening, and continue through much of Christmas weekend.
