UPDATE — Orange man killed in crash along Texas 62

Authorities have released the name of a person who was killed in a fiery crash Wednesday night.

The crash happened took place at approximately 6 p.m. Wednesday on Texas 62 at the intersection of Nan Drive, which is north of Interstate 10.

The preliminary crash investigation indicates a Chevrolet Z71 pickup, towing a trailer, was traveling north on Texas 62, followed by a Chevrolet 2500 pickup. It is reported the Chevrolet Z71 slowed to make a left turn onto Nan Drive and was struck in the rear by the Chevrolet 2500.

After impact, the Chevrolet 2500 caught fire, according to information from the Texas Department of Public Safety.

The driver of the Chevrolet Z71, identified as 54-year-old Edwin Laughlin of Orange, was not injured.

Justice of the Peace Hershel Stagner pronounced the driver of the Chevrolet 2500 deceased on the scene.

The identity of the victim was announced Thursday as 71-year-old Geary Noble of Orange.

The case remains under investigation.
