Orange Police identify man killed in auto-pedestrian crash

Scott Halstead was set to turn 51 on Monday but was killed this week in Orange, the victim of an auto-pedestrian crash Wednesday evening.

Orange Police Department Sgt. Isaac Henry said officers were dispatched to the 12000 block of Interstate 10 North Service Road at 6:40 p.m. in reference to an accident report.

Officers discovered that a male, identified as Halstead, had been struck by a vehicle traveling on the north service road.

According to police, the driver of the vehicle remained on scene and provided details about the crash.

Justice of the Peace Precinct 1 Hershel Stagner arrived on scene later and pronounced Halstead deceased and ordered an autopsy.

The Orange Criminal Investigation Division is investigating the crash. Authorities did not report any citations issued.

Police said Halstead’s driver’s license was issued out of Florida, investigators are working to determine where he most recently lived.
