Vidor Police Department working to identify man killed in train collision

VIDOR — Police in Vidor are working to identify a man who was killed this week, authorities said.

The victim was struck by a train Monday afternoon.

Vidor Police Chief Rod Carroll said the man did not have any identification with him, and police are checking local data bases on missing persons.

He added the upcoming autopsy might help in the identification process.

Police received the call of a person being struck by a train at approximately 1:19 p.m. Monday near East Railroad parallel to Ethel Lane.

Carroll said upon arrival they found a person deceased.

Police believe the man died from the collision with the train.

Justice of the Peace Hershel Stagner was called to the scene and pronounced the victim deceased. He ordered an autopsy.
