John Milton “Mickey” Chiasson

The world has lost the most infectious smile.

John Milton “Mickey” Chiasson passed away peacefully on November 19, 2023, while surrounded by family and close friends.

He was born on August 11, 1941, to John Baptiste Chiasson and Wanda Hollier Chiasson. Mickey had two younger brothers when his mother died at an early age.

His father later remarried, and Mary Dolan became his stepmother, and four more siblings were born.

After graduating from Vinton High School in 1959, Mickey joined the Navy.

He served on the USS Hector where he acquired electrician skills and made long lasting friends. He also boasted a winning record in the Navy Boxing Circuit, which included headlining several boxing matches.

His outstanding agility, strength, and talent catapulted him into his future career in dance.

Mickey was a ballroom dance teacher who achieved the highest certification levels possible in the art of ballroom dancing. He was a Teacher of a Thousand Trophies, and he was a Teacher of Teachers.

His students ascended to national class competitions and won Championship trophies. While teaching dancing he met and married Jeanine Bains in 1969.

They had three children, Kimberly, Jason, and Shane. Mickey always said they choreographed three great kids.

While continuing a part time career in teaching, he worked at the Fort Worth Star Telegram for 12 years and later he worked at Dan Dipert Coaches and Tours for 15 years driving athletic teams and various groups across the country to various events.

Among his favorites were high school girls’ basketball, soccer, and softball teams because they were some of the kindest and most respectful people he had ever driven to any event.

Many friends and co-workers were blessed with his warm smile. Mickey was a faithful Christian. Most recently, he attended Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Keller, TX.

Mickey was preceded in death by his Father John Baptiste Chiasson, Mother Wanda Hollier Chiasson, and Stepmother Mary Dolan Chiasson.

He is survived by his 3 Children Kimberly Elizabeth, Jason Anthony, and Shane Michael and wife Valorie; 4 grandchildren Haley, Kaitlyn, Abigail, and Bethany, one great grandchild Octavia; six brothers and sisters Richard Chiasson, Thomas Chiasson, Veronica Leger, Catherine Chiasson, Jaime Chiasson, and Justin Chiasson, lifelong friend of over seventy years Ray Duhon and family, and ex-wife Jeanine Chiasson.

To know Mickey was to love him. He will be missed by many.

Service will be held at DFW Memorial Cemetery at 3:00 on December 15th. Following the service, a reception will be held at J Gilligans Bar and Grill in Arlington, TX.
