A look back at track season, final SE Texas track leaders

The 2022 Southeast Texas track season drew to a close with the conclusion of the UIL State Track & Field Championships.

Orange County was represented well with Bridge City Lady Cardinals star Caryss Carpenter and Orangefield Bobcats standout Hunter Ashworth wrapping up great runs for their respective schools.

Here is a look at the Southeast Texas tracksters who finished in the top six in their events at State along with the Final SE Texas track leaders for the season.


GOLD MEDALS – Sanaria Butler, PN-G, 5A girls long jump, 19-7.75, new Golden Triangle-area best; Keandre Jones, Port Arthur Memorial, 5A boys high jump, 6-8; Josh Onuorah, Beaumont Kelly, TAPPS 6A boys long jump, 23-2.5, new Golden Triangle-area best.

SILVER MEDALS – Josh Sanderson, Hamshire-Fannett, 4A boys 110-meter hurdles, 14.28; Sanaria Butler, PN-G, girls 400-meter dash, 54.73.

BRONZE MEDALS – Sanaria Butler, PN-G, 5A girls triple jump, 41-1, new Golden Triangle-area best.

FOURTH PLACE FINISHES – Caryss Carpenter, Bridge City, 4A girls high jump, 5-2; Justin Maze, Beaumont Kelly, TAPPS 6A boys 100-meter dash, 11.12; Whitley Carter, 2A girls long jump, 17-6.

FIFTH PLACE FINISHES – Colin Dorsey, Hamshire-Fannett, 4A boys triple jump, 45-11.5; TAPPS 6A boys 400-meter relay, Beaumont Kelly (Gage Robinson, Chris Roberts, Justin Maze, Josh Onuorah), 43.49
