Man arrested for stabbing girlfriend

LAKE CHARLES — On June 26, 2020 the Lake Charles Police Department responded to a stabbing complaint in the 2000 block of Denise Street in Lake Charles.  Upon officers arrival to the location they found the 31 year old victim with a single stab wound to the chest.  The victim was transported to a local hospital for non-life threating injuries.

During the course of the investigation it was learned that the victim and her boyfriend, 36 year old, Anthony Releford Jr. were engaged in a verbal altercation when things turned physical and Releford retrieved a knife and stabbed the victim once.

A physical altercation continued and bystanders came to the victim’s aid and Releford fled.

The Lake Charles Police Department’s Swat Team located Releford on July 17, 2020 at a residence in Iowa, LA where he was arrested without incident.

Releford is being booked into the Calcasieu Parish Correctional Facility on the charge of Aggravated Second Degree Battery with no bond.
