PRESS RELEASE — Hope everyone had a good Memorial Day. Please remember all who gave it all. My prayers were with them. Let’s see what’s been going on.

A deputy and an off-duty Newton PD officer had some excitement last week. They checked out a car about 2:00 am when it went crazy. Make a long story short, a man broke loose from them and stole the deputies patrol car. Chase is on. After several U-turns, the man hit a Newton PD car head on. The man hit the woods after he hit the PD unit. He was caught by officers and taken to the hospital before going to jail. Off duty Newton PD officer received head injuries when patrol unit was hit. He was flown to St. Elizabeth where he was treated then later released.

We had a surprise inspection from the Jail Commission last week. We passed. You have no idea what a big deal that is. Thanks goes out to Captain Morrow and her staff.

We received a call from a lady saying she just shot a dope headed girl that she saw messing around her car. Nobody shot and nobody wants to file charges.

We received several calls this week about people driving too fast on County Roads. Please remember to slow down on our County Roads.

Several child custody calls and family disturbance calls this past week. Most of these calls were in front of the children. That’s a crying shame the kids have to see this. Grow up!

Gotta go. Thought for the week: There are two theories to arguing with a woman. Neither works. Y’all have a good week and if we can help, just holler. God bless.
