Bridge City ISD students, staff, parents and community,
Governor Abbott has modified his Executive Order to extend the closure of all schools through May 4, 2020. Our tentative plan to return to normal operations will be as follows:
Monday, May 4, 2020: Teacher Work Day
Tuesday, May 5, 2020: Students return to school
Our health officials report that cases are continuing to spread in the state, and an increase in confirmed cases in our county seem likely. Suspending operations for this length of time will allow us to determine, in coordination with local health officials, whether the virus is continuing to have community spread or whether it has been contained. We are coordinating with other school districts in Orange County as well as Orange County Officials to make any decisions on whether there is a need to extend the suspension further. I will continue to provide timely updates as necessary.
Our instructional staff, especially our teachers, are providing relevant instructional activities for our students either online or through packets. We will continue to implement our Flexible Education Program throughout the closure of our school facilities. Continue to work with your student’s teacher regarding instruction and assessments. We appreciate the cooperation of our Parents during this instructional transition time. Remember patience, perseverance and communication between our families and staff will ensure that our students continue to receive the best instruction possible during these trying times.
Thank you for your support and cooperation as we ensure that all members of the community in Bridge City ISD stay safe and healthy.
Todd Lintzen, Superintendent
