Number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 increases in Orange County

There are seven confirmed cases of the coronavirus in Orange County as of Monday.

Bridge City has one case, Mauriceville had the first case, Vidor has three and now there is one conformed case in Orange and Orangefield.

Total calls received by Call Center – 1,480

  • 243 calls received Monday
  • 589 have been referred for testing since call center opened on 3/20)
  • 86 were tested at the drive-through site today

There is a BURN BAN in effect for all of Orange County.

COVID-19 attacks the respiratory system and as such, we need to refrain from burning debris in order to protect everyone, especially those with already compromised respiratory systems.

Effective today, the Call Center will be open 24-hours every day.  If you are experiencing symptoms (fever, dry cough, shortness of breath) or you believe you have been exposed to an infected individual, you can call 409-550-2536 to be evaluated for testing.

As of Tuesday morning, 164,610 cases were reported in the United States with 801,400 worldwide with total deaths related to COVID-19 at 38,743 worldwide. New York City has had 914 deaths to the coronavirus. Of the confirmed cases, 172,657 worldwide have recovered.
