Dean Granger, 60, of Orange, passed away on Saturday.

Granger is co-owner of Granger Chevrolet and helped spearhead Shop Orange County initiative with the Greater Orange Area Chamber of Commerce.

The mission of the Shop Orange County Campaign is to educate and create awareness regarding the importance and economic benefits of shopping locally. It was launched in 2015.

Granger said, in a previously published Orange Leader article, one difference between the Shop Orange County initiative and other communities’ campaigns is the chambers include all stores within the county.

Get a Slice of Orange County campaign added value to becoming a chamber member as it has brought more engagement between the chambers and businesses.

Granger also helped bring the annual 5K Walk/Run to benefit the Orange County United Way.

He opted to open Granger Chevrolet in Orange County after living in the Dallas area for 20 years.

Customer service and giving back to the community were synonymous with his name.

He was also on the committee for First State Bank and served many years on the City of Orange EDC Board of Directors, where he served officer positions of Vice-President and Treasurer.

From 2010 to 2016, Dean served on the board of the United Way of Orange County, serving as Campaign Chair, 2nd Vice-Chair, 1st Vice-Chair, and Board Chair.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to United Way of Orange Co. at 1506 W Park Ave, Orange, Texas 77630 or SETX Hospice at 912 W Cherry Ave, Orange, Texas 77630.

A celebration of his life will be held at a later date, according to his obituary.
