BOYS HOOP ROUNDUP: Bobcats rattle Kountze; Bryant surpasses 1,000-point mark

ORANGEFIELD – The Orangefield Bobcats snagged a huge 77-60 District 22-3A victory over the Kountze Lions Tuesday night as they inched closer to solidifying a playoff berth.

The Bobcats (18-14, 7-3) are now just one game back of second-place Kountze (15-6, 8-2) in the district standings with four games remaining.

Bobcat guard Coy Bryant had a night to remember as he poured in 19 points and had four rebounds, two assists and a steal. Bryant went over the 1,000-point mark as a outstanding shooter.

Bryce Bergeron had 16 points, four rebounds and three steals for the Bobcats. Payton Wrinkle contributed 13 points, tree rebounds, two assists and two steals and Tyler Greenwood added 10 points and a steal.

The Bobcats will venture to Anahuac Friday to take on the Panthers.

LITTLE CYPRESS – The Little Cypress-Mauriceville Bears battled back from an 11-point deficit but just came up a little short at The Grove Tuesday night as the Lumberton Raiders escaped with a 51-50 District 22-4A victory.

Jackson Smith powered the Bears (15-14, 4-4) against the Raiders (21-10, 4-5) with 16 points while Jesse Doucette filtered in 12.

The Bears will venture to Bridge City Friday. In other 22-4A action Tuesday West Orange-Stark (13-18, 2-6) fell to Hamshire-Fannett (20-11, 3-6) 53-51 in Fannett.

SOUR LAKE – The Bridge City Cardinals dropped a 78-53 District 22-4A road decision to the Hardin-Jefferson Hawks Tuesday night at Hawks Gym.

Guard Austin Richardson led the Cardinals (11-19, 1-8) against the Hawks (23-9, 8-1) as he poured in 17 points.

The Cardinals will host LC-M Friday.
