McAlpin named finalist for Orangefield Superintendent

Orangefield Independent School District Board of Trustees selected and named David Shaun McAlpin as the Finalist for the position of Superintendent of Schools for the District on Tuesday according to a press release. 

McAlpin has served as Assistant Superintendent for the school district since 2012. 

McAlpin is a graduate of Orangefield High School

His career began as an athletic trainer for three years in the district before becoming an assistant principal at Orangefield Elementary for two years.

He then moved to Orangefield High School where he worked as assistant principal for two years and then as principal.

Dr. Stephen Patterson resigned in November 2019. Patterson was named Superintendent in 2012.

Kevin Weldon as the Interim Superintendent while the Board of Trustees searched for a permanent superintendent.

By law the Board may not hire the new Superintendent for at least 21 days following the public notice that was given by the Board’s motion.
