Newton County Sheriff’s Report 1.20.20

PRESS RELEASE — Wow! What a busy week. Let’s see what’s been going on.

We received a 911 call where one lady stabbed the other. Deputies and first responders rolled that way. This took place on CR 3144 (just off Old Champion Road). When we all got there one lady was deceased, the other placed in jail for murder. We are still working on this case.

The next day we were advised of a deceased female. Upon arrival the body was located in an outbuilding behind a house on FM 2626 north of Newton. Like the case the day before, Sheriff’s Office, Newton P.D. and the Texas Rangers are investigating this death. As of now, the cause of death is unknown.

Please remember the Hughes and Carey family in your prayers. They are hurting because of their loss.

We received a call where a 2017 Travel Trailer was stolen from a man’s residence. Deputy Owens got lucky and found out where it was. Then he found out who was involved. He’s in the process of getting warrants. When the thugs stole it, they hit a tree getting it off the property and knocked a big hole in it. I can’t write down what I’m thinking. Shame on me.

Gotta Go. Two autopsy’s this morning in Beaumont. Thought for the week: There are lots of people who mistake their imagination for their memory. Ya’ll have a great week, and if we can help, just holler. God Bless.
