UPDATE: VIDEO: Newton County Sheriff’s Office investigating stabbing

The Newton County Sheriff’s office received a 911 call at 11:22 a.m. on Friday in reference to a serious stabbing. Deputies and an ambulance was dispatched to County Road 3144, just south of the Gist area.

Female came to neighbor’s house advised she had stabbed someone and requested neighbor to call 911.

The first deputy on the scene advised one female was deceased. EMT’s confirmed.

Keysha Lynn Hughes, 37, of Mauriceville was identified as the deceased.

Newton County Pct. 4 Judge Dana Ashmore, Sheriff Billy Rowles, Chief Deputy Hall and Texas Ranger Haroldson were notified, according to a press release.

Ashmore held the inquest and ordered an autopsy.

One female is in custody and charges are pending.
