City of Orange Historic Preservation Commission will consider an application for a Certificate of Appropriateness from Christine Vermeulen concerning painting artwork on a fence at 700 block of 8th Street in Orange.
Vermeulen submitted an application for a certificate of appropriateness requesting to ‘paint art tastefully’ on a small section of fencing facing Orange Street.
She submitted the request in November of 2019.
According to a Memorandum to the Historic Preservation Commission members, Director of Planning and Community Development Kelvin Knauf wrote, “The Historic Overlay Zoning District ordinance doesn’t address painting artwork on fences. The ordinance addresses colors for buildings and architectural styles but not artwork. The Commission may want to consider the painting of artwork on fences or other structures in the historic districts on a case-by-case basis.”
Historic Preservation Commission will meet at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, January 14 at the Neighborhood Facilities Building located at 303 North Eighth Street in Orange.
