Late surge lifts Bears to big road win over Lumberton

LUMBERTON – Going on a 6-0 spurt to finish the game, the Little Cypress-Mauriceville Bears went on the road and snagged a nice 50-45 District 22-4A victory over the Lumberton Raiders at Raider Gym Friday night.

Jackson Smith put in the go-ahead basket for the Bears (12-11, 1-1) and the Raiders (17-7, 1-2) turned the ball over and Bear Jesse Doucette scored the game’s final four points.

Doucette finished with a game-high 22 points to lead in the vital win while Smith had nine points and Ethan McCollum added six.

The Bears outrebounded the Raiders 37-26 and got it done on defense as well. Lumberton finished with 24 turnovers while LC-M had 18.

The Bears will return home Tuesday to face the Bridge City Cardinals.
