A man, according to witnesses on the scene, was outside shooting when he shot himself.
Orange Police Officers were dispatched at approximately 4:40 p.m. on Thursday to the area of 24th and Bruce Lane in Orange in reference to several gunshots being fired and one person with a gunshot wound.
Upon arrival and after a short investigation, it was determined the gunshot wound was self-inflicted.
Reginald Vankeith Antoine Jr. was transported to Saint Elizabeth’s Hospital in Beaumont in critical condition.
The investigation is ongoing according to a press release.
It shall be unlawful for any person, except a peace officer in the discharge of his official duties or a person within the confines of a gun club, pistol or rifle range approved by the city council to discharge any firearm within the city, according to Sec. 7.301 of the Code of Ordinances for the City of Orange.
