Wreck shuts down Interstate 10

Interstate-10 west bound at Simmons is closed for three to four hours for clean up causing traffic back up into Louisiana after a 18 wheeler crash at approximately 4:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Crews are having to unload the trailer before moving.
At approximately 4:30 p.m., the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Troopers responded to a report of a commercial motor vehicle crash on Interstate 10, near Simmons Drive, in Orange County.
Once Troopers arrived on scene, there was no crash or injuries. A commercial motor vehicle was traveling westbound on Interstate 10 when the 18-wheeler experienced a mechanical issue causing the trailer to split in half.
At this time, all westbound traffic lanes on Interstate 10, near Simmons Drive, in Orange County are closed. The roadway will remain closed until crews can safely remove the 18-wheeler from the roadway. The roadway is expected to remain closed for the next 3-4 hours. Motorists are urged to find an alternate travel route.
