TOURNEY WRAP: Teams busy in hoop tourney action

WINNIE – THoop teams were busy in tournament action over the weekend.

On Thursday, the LC-M Lady Bears notched a 36-26 victory over Tomball at the East Chambers Tournament.

Senior guard Chelsea Perry sparked the Lady Bears with 14 points, eight rebounds and six steals.

Brittany Wyatt notched seven points and eight rebounds while Zaria Johnson added seven points and four steals.

In their first game Friday, the Lady Bears cruised past Hitchcock 60-32.

Perry claimed 18 points and had six rebounds and six assists.

Wyatt notched a double-double, scoring 14 points while snagging 10 rebounds. Johnson tallied 13 points while Christina Joseph added six points and five rebounds.

Late Friday, the Lady Bears fell to Tarkington 45-43 in overtime. Perry had 14 points, six rebounds and three steals while Joseph had seven rebounds.

On Saturday, the Lady Bears dropped 22-4A rival Bridge City 52-29.

Wyatt tallied 17 points and had six rebounds while Johnson poured in 21 points. The Lady Bears fell to Tarkington 39-38 in overtime in the championship game.

Perry pumped in 18 points and snared 16 rebounds.

Perry and Johnson were both selected to the All-Tournament Team.

On Thursday, the Bridge City Lady Cardinals were also in the tournament and defeated Huffman 53-41.

In boys action at the tournament Thursday, the WO-S Mustangs fell to College Station 58-38, Livingston downed Liberty 69-55, East Chambers topped Hamshire-Fannett 58-54 and Hardin-Jefferson downed Broaddus 61-47. Shemar Manaway led the Mustangs against College Station with 13 points.

On Friday, WO-S lost to District 22-4A rival Hardin-Jefferson 73-57. Manaway had 18 points for the Mustangs while Jalon Ross and Labarius Spraggins added 12 points apiece.

The Orangefield wrapped up a 3-2 finish at the Aggieland Tournament in College Station.

The Lady Bobcats fell to Midlothian Heritage 58-41. Faith Fregia led the Lady Bobcats with 14 points.

They bounced back to defeat Huckaby 49-46. Fregia had 16 points and four steals while Jacey Bourque added 13 points.

The Lady Bobcats defeated Halletsville 54-38. Bourque popped for 20 points and had five steals while Fregia filtered in 15 points.

Orangefield defeated Fort Bend Christian 58-52. Fregia notched 23 points, five rebounds and five steals. Harleigh Rawls contributed 12 points and six boards while Bourque had 11 points, five assists and four steals. The Lady Bobcats dropped their last game 42-41 to China Spring.

Bourque had 15 points while Fregia pumped in 13.
