HOOP ROUNDUP: Lady Bears cruise in winning Evadale title

LC-M girls

EVADALE – The Little Cypress-Mauriceville Lady Bears cruised to the title at the Evadale Tournament Saturday as they downed the Kirbyville Lady Wildcats 37-9 in the championship game.

The Lady Bears (7-2) led 17-6 at intermission and went on a 11-0 run in the third quarter to grab a 28-6 lead and never looked back.

Brittany Wyatt and Brielle Butler led the way with nine points apiece while Zaria Johnson had six. Chelsea Perry contributed seven rebounds and six steals in the win.

The Lady Bears downed the Port Neches Groves Lady Indians 43-30 at the Evadale Tournament Friday.

Brittany Wyatt led the Lady Bear attack with 13 points while Chelsea Perry and Zaria Johnson tallied 12 points apiece.

Wyatt hauled in eight rebounds while Perry had seven. Matalyn Hill contributed four steals.

Perry was named Most Valuable Player for the tournament while Wyatt made All-Tournament.

 

OF girls

FANNETT – The Orangefield Lady Bobcats downed the Hamshire-Fannett Lad Longhorns 59-40 Friday night.

Faith Fregia led the Lady Bobcats with 20 points.

Jacey Bourque contributed 11 points and three steals. Harleigh Rawls notched 10 points and four rebounds. Joli Ponfick had eight points, Four rebounds and four assists and Stormi Lorenzo added four points and six rebounds.

 

LC-M boys

ARANSAS PASS – On Friday, the Little Cypress-Mauriceville Bears took down Corpus Christi Calallen 52-45 at the Aransas Pass Tournament.

Brendon Brones led the LC-M arsenal with 15 points while Jesse Doucette filtered in 11.

The Bears wrapped up Friday with a 53-49 victory over Roma. Jackson Smith led the Bears with 17 points while Doucette pumped in 13.

The Bears wrapped up the tourney with a 64-50 loss to La Vernia. Smith, who was named All-Tournament, paced the Bears with 18 points and Doucette had 13.
