From staff reports

Orange Grove paperweight oranges have arrived.

These come painted as seen in the picture, but you can be creative and paint your orange however if you like.

They can be picked up at the Orange Chamber of Commerce Office.

They are $20 per orange and two-plus is $15 per orange.

Oranges can be purchased with cash, check, or credit card at pick up at 1012 Green Ave. in Orange.

Chamber staff is not always on-site due to events and ribbon cuttings, so it is best to call before coming by at 409-883-3536

The Greater Orange Area Chamber of Commerce is open Monday- Friday 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. and closed 12 p.m.-1 p.m.

The paperweights are part of The Orange Grove project.

The project is designed to help bring all the communities in Orange County together while instilling community pride.

The oranges for the businesses are showing up around the county. The project, while encouraging unification within the county, also encourages to shop Orange County first.

The cost of an orange is $250 for chamber members and $500 for nonmembers.

Nonmembers will also receive a one-year membership with the chamber allowing the business to discover first hand the benefits of chamber membership.

To place an order, contact the chamber for an order form. Concrete pads are also available for a small fee and suggested for the ones being placed in a grassy area as the oranges weigh 1,000 pounds.

Smaller oranges for residential areas are still in the planning stages and an announcement concerning them is expected next summer.
