Orange police officers were dispatched at 3:57 p.m. on Saturday to a residence in the 1700 block of Robin Avenue, in Orange, in reference to an unresponsive child.

Upon arrival, officers met with family and neighbors who were tending to a six-year-old child who family members had found unresponsive in their pool.

Officer D.Y. Myers was the first emergency responder on scene and immediately began taking life-saving measures.

Myers continued those measures, voiding water from the child’s lungs, until he was relieved by Orange Fire Department personnel.

Police and Fire personnel were able to void the water, obtain a pulse and the child began breathing, according to a police report.

The child was turned over to Acadian Ambulance Service personnel, who took over measures and transported the child to a local hospital.
