Orange County woman killed in Nederland wreck

Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Troopers, at approximately 7 p.m. Thursday, responded to an auto-pedestrian crash on US 69 in Jefferson County.  The crash occurred just south of Farm to Market Road 3514.
The preliminary DPS crash investigation indicates that a Nissan pickup truck was traveling southbound on US 69.

The vehicle ran out of gas in the right lane of US 69.  The driver exited the vehicle, stood in the roadway and attempted to flag down another motorists.  As the driver stood in the road, she was struck by a Ford F-150 pickup truck.
The driver of the Nissan, a female from Orange County, was pronounced deceased by Justice of the Peace Ransom Jones at the scene.  Her name will not be released until next of kin has been notified.
The passenger in the Nissan was not injured.
The driver of the Ford pickup truck, a 27-year-old male from Orange, was not injured.
Motorists are urged to use caution while traveling in the area and to stay alert for slow moving or stopped traffic.
All information is preliminary as Troopers continue to investigate this fatal crash.
