LSU-Shreveport Third Baseman and former West Orange-Stark standout Payton Robertson has been named to the NAIA Preseason All-American Baseball Team. Payton joins the ranks of the nations best players after producing an incredible 2019 season for the Pilots. Only one player is chosen at each of the infield positions and voters viewed Payton as the top third baseman in the country.

Robertson was an absolute monster on the field last year, batting .387 with 89 hits leading the Pilots in both of those categories. Payton’s ability to get on base at a .450 clip produced 65 runs scored. With his elite speed, he was a menace to opposing catchers as he swiped 37 bags over the course of the season. Even though he was a table-setter for the LSUS lineup, he still managed to drive in 46 runs while hitting seven home runs. Robertson tallied 28 extra-base hits in 2019.

Payton will be one of the leaders of the Pilots as they embark on their 2020 journey and opposing pitchers around the nation are already taking note of the Preseason All-American.
