Pinehurst Mayor Dan Mohon was named honoree of the Lions Club Charity Carnival on Thursday.
Mohon has been a Lion for 45 years and has served in the community in many ways, including as councilmember and mayor.
“I have thoroughly enjoyed volunteering with the Lions,” Mohon said in a previous article in The Orange Leader. “The carnival funds the help we are able to do within the community such as eyeglasses and Christmas Baskets of food.”
The Orange Lions Club also awards four – five scholarships each year.
The Lions Club helps provide a special camp for special children, according to Mohon.
Carnival continues Saturday, Oct. 19 and Wednesday, Oct. 23 – Saturday, Oct. 26. Kiddie Day is 4 p.m. – 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 19.
Admission for Adult (18 and over) is $3, youth (13-17) is $2 and Child (12 and under) is free. Admission is free from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on “Kiddie Day” only for children from ages Pre-K through Fifth-grade.
Rides and games generally cost $1-$2 per turn.
The annual event features popular carnival attracts such as a carousel and children’s rides, as well as fun activities for adults include the “Lee Roy,” which is the name of the Lions Carnival Ferris wheel and the Tilt-a-Whirl.
