It was homecoming for the junior high this week and the Buccaneers came to town. It was a long and exciting night of football which led to the fighting Bobcats winning both games.
The 7th grade got off to a rocky start committing several penalties and letting East Chambers score putting themselves in a bad spot down 16-6 in the first half. After an amazing motivational speech by Coach Legate the defense rose to the challenge and shut down the Buccaneers which allowed Coach Drouillard to work his wizardry on offense. The offense was led by Naqualan Cormier and Devin Perri-Koci who each scored on long runs to keep East Chambers defense on their heels. The entire team stepped up on defense anchored by the linebacking core of Colt Longron, Sawyer Alfaro, Devin Perri-Koci and Gunner Evans. Big plays at the end of the game by Talan Hampton sealed the deal and allowed the Bobcats to remain undefeated on the season with a 18-16 victory.
The 8th grade came out flat for the first half and was brought to life at half time by Coach McNeill and Coach Ragsdale completely turning the tables on East Chambers and finishing strong for the first win of the year with a score of 24-16. Kyle Michael decided to put the team on his back and will them to victory carrying the ball for 172 yards and two touchdowns. The story of the night was the defense that came alive for the Bobcats in the second half led by Logan Cheek who had 13 tackles and two sacks for huge loses. Akilles Garcia gave the 8th grade all the momentum they needed who started the scoring spree with a fumble recovery for a TD which lit the fire that could not be put out. Dustin Helm also had a 65 yard pick six which was unfortunately called back on a questionable call to say the least.
The Bobcats will look to continue their success and will hit the road next week to take on the Hardin Hornets.
