Special to the Leader

The Community Christian Lions entered the Mt. Carmel game Saturday night knowing they were predicted to be a 28-point underdog.

The Lions came out quickly and James Menard pressed his Lions in for a quick score. The Lions looked to set the tone early but Mt. Carmel took advantage of a mishandled kickoff and were able to capitalize.

Like two prize fighters they exchanged the advantage back and forth. After a controversial call and one of the Lions going down, the true nature of the team came out. They fought to a final victory leaving only 18 seconds left to put the final score up.

The Lions then were able to stop the Mt. Carmel inside the 10 when the final bell sounded as the Lions won a hard fought battle 56-54. The Lions host Fort Bend on Thursday, Oct 3 at 5:30 pm on their home field.
