The American Red Cross is focused on sheltering those who have been affected by rain associated with Imelda. Currently, fourteen shelters are available to aid those impacted by severe rain and flooding throughout the Texas gulf coast region. There are currently more than 800 guests in shelters spanning from Houston to the Louisiana border.
The current list of shelters is available at https://www.redcross.org/get-help/disaster-relief-and-recovery-services/find-an-open-shelter.html and listed below. Please check the website for updates before heading to a shelter:

- Important personal documents
- Extra clothing, pillows, blankets, hygiene supplies and other comfort items
- Supplies needed for children and infants, such as diapers, formula and toys
