As residents brace themselves for the rainfall from Tropical Depression Imelda over the next two days, local entities are providing sandbags for citizens who need to protect their homes.

Sandbags are available at

Precinct 1: Maintenance barn located on North Hwy 87 at North Teal
Precinct 2: 11897 State Hwy 62 in Mauriceville directly across from Market Basket on Hwy 62
Precinct 3: County Maintenance barn located on 2502 West Roundbunch Road
Precinct 4: County Maintenance barn located on 375 Claiborne Street

For residents of the city of Pinehurst, sand is available at 3000 Gull Street in Pinehurst.

“Pinehurst is providing the sandbags, but residents will need to bring their own shovel,” City Administrator Robbie Hood said.

Sandbags at that location will be available from 8 a.m. – 3 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday.
