PRESS RELEASE — Tropical Depression Imelda is slowly moving north across the Houston area. Rainfall from this system will continue today through Thursday. An additional 4 to 10 inches is expected across southeast Texas, two to six inches across western Louisiana, and lower amounts east of there.

Remember the rule of thumb is to double these forecast numbers to estimate how much rainfall could fall in isolated places.

Tyler, Jasper, Hardin, Jefferson, and Orange counties have the highest risk for flash flooding today through Thursday, although western Louisiana has a risk for flash flooding as well.
Be alert for flooded roads during periods of heavy rain, especially at night.
In addition, tides are continuing to run 1 to 2 feet above normal, so coastal flooding is still expected during high tide today through Thursday.
