Orange man arrested for aggravated sexual assault of a child

Officers with the Port Arthur Police Department were dispatched at approximately 4:48 p.m., on Tuesday, to a location in Port Arthur in reference to a disturbance.

During an investigation, it was determined that a 7-year-old child made an outcry to her mother of a sexual assault that had just occurred.

The location of the call is not given as it is the policy of The Orange Leader to not disclose the location of a victim of a sexual crime for the victim’s privacy.

The suspect, an Orange resident, 25, fled the scene before officers arrived but later turned himself in at the Port Arthur Police Department, according to a press release.

Due to evidence, and witness accounts of what happened the suspect was arrested and transported to the Jefferson County Correctional Facility where he was charged with Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child.

His name has not been released at this time.

This incident is currently under investigation by the Port Arthur Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division.
